Redlands provides letter of support for regional trails project

Plans to establish public trails in the Santa Ana River Wash continue to move forward, with the Redlands City Council recently providing a letter of support for the San Bernardino County Regional Parks Department Santa Ana River Trail Expansion Project to establish a 7.5-mile trail along the former Santa Fe rail bed.

The vote provides another critical link in a broader project to expand the Santa Ana River Trail system 110 miles from the Orange County coast to the San Bernardino mountains. The City of Highland, another important partner in the plan, cast a vote in favor of the project earlier this year. The San Bernardino Valley Water Conservation District’s Santa Ana River Wash Habitat Conservation Plan is an essential part of that broader Santa Ana River Trail system — calling for the establishment of several local trails for the public to enjoy.
