Spineflower restoration sows seeds to propagate 500 plants

The District’s slender-horned spineflower restoration work is proceeding well, with enough seeds sown last year to propagate 500 plants in partnership with California Botanic Garden.

The plants will be grown in 2-inch containers and transferred to 4-inch pots prior to being planted in the field in March. Seed collection and propagation plays an important role in restoring species with plants that are genetically representative of the area.
