Helping Nature Store Our Water

Annual Report: Recharge Levels Increased in 2018-2019

Each year, the District performs a variety of hydro-geologic measurements and engineering calculations to accurately determine the amount of water recharged into the Bunker Hill basin.

These findings are published in an annual Engineering Investigation (https://www.sbvwcd.org/reports-and-data/engineering-investigation/6047-2020-draft-engineering-investigation-report/file.html), which this year describes the 2018-2019 water year as 117% of normal, reflecting an increase in water storage by 152,408 acre feet for that year. Projections for our current water year, based on the wet winter and enhanced recharge of imported water, are expected to surpass that number by another 27,658 acre feet for 2019-2020.
